Job Overview:
The Driver position at the WHO Country Office in Papua New Guinea involves providing essential transport support services to the Health and Wellbeing Officer (HWO) and other high-ranking officials. The incumbent will be responsible for driving official vehicles, ensuring their maintenance, and keeping accurate logs of vehicle usage. This role requires a commitment to safety and adherence to traffic regulations, as well as the ability to work harmoniously within a team. The driver will also be tasked with collecting and delivering mail and documents as needed, and must maintain a valid driver's license while ensuring the security of the vehicle and its contents. The position is integral to the smooth operation of the office and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and communication.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Driver include: 1) Driving official vehicles and providing transport support to the HWO and other officials; 2) Coordinating assignments among drivers and ensuring timely updates on vehicle usage; 3) Collecting and delivering mail and documents; 4) Maintaining a valid driving license and adhering to traffic regulations; 5) Ensuring the security of the vehicle when unattended; 6) Performing regular maintenance checks on assigned vehicles; 7) Logging official trips, mileage, and fuel consumption; 8) Ensuring GPS and tracking devices are operational; 9) Taking necessary steps in case of accidents; 10) Providing backup support to team members during absences; 11) Performing other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include: 1) A valid driver's license for automobiles/minibuses; 2) Excellent knowledge of driving and traffic rules; 3) Familiarity with the layout of the duty station and surrounding areas; 4) Skills in basic motor vehicle mechanics; 5) Strong interpersonal and communication skills; 6) Ability to work well in a team and adapt to diverse backgrounds; 7) A results-oriented mindset and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position is equivalent to graduation from secondary school, with thorough training in driving automobiles or minibuses. Additional education or certifications related to driving or vehicle maintenance would be considered an asset.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least two years of experience as a driver, with a proven safe driving record. Experience working in a UN organization or similar environment is desirable and would be considered an asset.

Languages:
Essential for this position is intermediate knowledge of English, which is necessary for effective communication within the organization and with stakeholders. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This position offers an attractive remuneration package, including an annual net base salary starting at PGK 37,396, subject to mandatory deductions. The role includes 30 days of annual leave and may be used to fill other similar positions at the same grade level.
