Job Overview:
The Reporting and Communication Officer for the Burkina Faso/Mali mission, based in Ouagadougou, is responsible for launching, monitoring, and drafting various contractual and non-contractual reports under the supervision of the Grant Manager. This role involves collecting and developing communication materials to enhance the visibility of SI's actions in Burkina Faso and Mali. The officer will face specific challenges, including the recent merger of the Burkina Faso and Mali missions and the need to strengthen the capacity of teams in grants and communication aspects. The officer will prioritize the coordination and development of high-quality reports for various donors, as well as the creation of communication materials such as newsletters and social media posts to promote SI's activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Reporting and Communication Officer will be tasked with the following duties:
  • Launching, monitoring, and drafting contractual and non-contractual reports, ensuring they meet quality standards and deadlines.
  • Collecting data and developing communication materials to enhance the visibility of SI's work in Burkina Faso and Mali.
  • Coordinating the preparation of interim and final reports for donors such as AFD, AAP CIAA, CDCS, DG-ECHO, FHRAOC, and BHA.
  • Developing a communication plan for 2026 for SI Burkina Faso/Mali.
  • Collaborating with the Grants team to ensure compliance with donor requirements and reporting standards.
  • Engaging with local partners and stakeholders to gather information and promote SI's initiatives.
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing to the overall strategy of the mission.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least a BAC+4 degree in international relations, development and humanitarian action, political science, or a related field, or have equivalent experience. Additionally, candidates should have at least one year of experience in a similar role within the humanitarian sector. Technical skills required include a minimum of two years of experience in the humanitarian field, coordination of project report writing, and experience in collecting and producing communication materials. Candidates should also demonstrate autonomy, stress management skills, and excellent writing and representation abilities, with clarity and precision in both oral and written communication.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a BAC+4 degree in relevant fields such as international relations, humanitarian action, or political science. Equivalent experience in the humanitarian sector may also be considered acceptable in lieu of formal education.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of experience in a similar role within the humanitarian sector. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in humanitarian contexts and be familiar with the challenges and requirements of reporting and communication in such environments.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory for this position, while proficiency in English is considered an asset. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in both languages to fulfill the reporting and communication responsibilities of the role.

Additional Notes:
The position is a salaried role with a salary starting from EUR 2,035 gross per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 1,850 plus a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 550 is provided. SI covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the duty station. The organization implements a work and leave rotation system, allowing for breaks every three months, with allocated funds for these breaks. Expatriates are provided with comprehensive health insurance covering medical expenses, including dental and optical care, and repatriation. The living conditions in Ouagadougou are described as pleasant, with a vibrant cultural scene and good access to restaurants and entertainment. Expatriates are not permitted to drive personal vehicles but are provided with transportation by SI. The city has good telecommunications and internet coverage, and there are security protocols in place, including curfews in certain areas. SI provides accommodation for expatriates with essential amenities such as water, electricity, and internet access.
