Job Overview:

The primary focus of this internship is to assist in the preparation for the 2025 Reham Al-Farra Memorial Journalism Fellowship (RAF) programme, which aims to provide talented young journalists from developing countries with exposure to the workings of the UN. Interns will engage in various tasks, including managing social media accounts, creating content, and supporting the overall operations of the VSS. The internship is full-time, requiring a commitment of five days a week, and is expected to last for six months, starting on July 1, 202
  • The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the RAF Manager and Chief of Unit, contributing to the promotion of the UN's ideals and activities through effective communication and outreach efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a range of duties, including: assisting the RAF Manager in managing the 2025 RAF programme; developing and posting engaging content on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and X; interacting with followers and responding to comments and messages; monitoring social media metrics and analyzing performance data; assisting other units within VSS with daily operations, including responding to visitor inquiries at the Public Inquiries Counter; and performing additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor. The intern will play a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and engagement of the RAF programme and the UN's outreach initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet several qualifications to be considered for this internship. They should be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent) or be in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level). Previous experience in a media outlet, particularly in digital content creation, social media editing, or newsroom assistance, is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should be proficient in standard software applications, especially MS Word and MS Excel, and possess skills in creating content for social media. Familiarity with design and task-management tools such as Canva and Trello is also beneficial. A strong interest in the work of the United Nations and the ability to interact with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds are essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a strong educational background relevant to the internship. This includes being enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree. The focus should be on fields related to communications, journalism, international relations, or similar disciplines that align with the responsibilities of the internship.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have prior experience, preferably through internships or employment in media outlets. Experience in digital content creation, social media management, and newsroom operations will be advantageous. Languages:
