Job Overview: The Finance Specialist plays a crucial role in sustainable finance, which is essential for addressing climate change and promoting sustainable development. This position involves collaboration with financial institutions, governments, and businesses to create a financial system that supports economic growth while being environmentally responsible. The Finance Specialist will work under the supervision of the Senior Program Manager and will support the Energy Transition Platform (ETP) in Indonesia. The role requires specialized knowledge in sustainable financing to navigate complexities and ensure financial strategies align with sustainability goals. The Finance Specialist will facilitate access to diverse funding sources and contribute to policy advocacy for innovative financial products, thereby shaping a sustainable future through effective financial resource deployment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Sustainable Loan Oversight: Develop criteria and frameworks for sustainable loans, monitor disbursement of funds, and ensure compliance with sustainability goals.
Support for Energy Transition Financing: Evaluate proposals for renewable energy projects, provide input for blended finance schemes, and contribute to financing frameworks.
Advisory Services: Offer expertise in financial modeling and analysis, assist in project selection, and guide sustainable loan structuring.
Recommendations: Advise on developing financial products that align with sustainable finance principles and advocate for supportive policies.
Administration and Reporting: Maintain work plans, monitor project outcomes, and prepare presentations for stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Management, Finance, Economics, Environmental Economics, Sustainable Finance, Engineering, or related fields. A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s) with two additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree. Candidates should have at least five years of experience in project finance, green finance, or sustainable finance, preferably in the energy or infrastructure sector. Experience with state-owned enterprises and government agencies is highly preferred, along with a strong understanding of sustainable finance policies and regulations. Proven project management experience in sustainable financing is desirable, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Management, Finance, Economics, Environmental Economics, Sustainable Finance, Engineering, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s) with two additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
Experience: At least five years of experience in project finance, green finance, or sustainable finance is required, with a preference for experience in the energy or infrastructure sector. Candidates should have a strong understanding of the financial aspects of energy transition issues and familiarity with sustainable finance policies and frameworks. Proven project management experience in sustainable financing, particularly in the energy sector, is desirable.
Languages: Full working knowledge of English and fluency in Bahasa Indonesia are required for this position.
Additional Notes: This is a retainer contract position, not full-time, with no guaranteed minimum working hours or days. The contract is for one year (up to 200 working days) with the possibility of extension based on organizational needs and performance. The position is open only to Indonesian nationals and those with valid work permissions in Indonesia.
