Job Overview: The position of National Consultant Researcher on the Trafficking of Medical Products in Central Africa involves conducting field research to gather data and insights on the illegal trafficking of medical products within the region. Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive field research on the trafficking of medical products in Central Africa, including data collection through interviews, surveys, and focus groups.
Collaborate with local health authorities, NGOs, and community organizations to gather relevant information and insights.
Analyze the data collected to identify trends, patterns, and root causes of trafficking in medical products.
Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings and providing actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
Present research findings to UNDP and other relevant parties, highlighting key issues and potential solutions.
Engage in discussions with policymakers to advocate for necessary changes in regulations and practices to combat trafficking.
Ensure compliance with ethical standards and guidelines during the research process.
Provide ongoing support and expertise to UNDP in developing strategies to address the trafficking of medical products.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in conducting field research, particularly in the health sector or related fields.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and present findings clearly.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in French and English.
Familiarity with the healthcare system in Central Africa and the challenges it faces.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Strong interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders and build relationships.
Knowledge of trafficking issues and their impact on public health is an asset.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field is required. A PhD in a relevant discipline would be an advantage. Candidates should have a strong academic background with a focus on research methodologies and data analysis.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in research, particularly in public health or social research. Experience working in Central Africa or similar contexts is highly desirable. Previous work with international organizations or NGOs will be considered an asset.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in the Central African Republic. Proficiency in English is also required to facilitate communication with international stakeholders. Knowledge of local languages would be an advantage but is not mandatory.
Additional Notes: This position is reserved exclusively for Central African nationals. The contract duration is for 6 months, and the consultant is expected to work full-time. The role is based in the Central African Republic, and candidates must be willing to travel within the country as required. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and in line with UNDP standards.
