Job Overview: The position of Freelance Graphic Designer at UNICEF China involves producing infographics and basic design work for advocacy and campaign products. The designer will be responsible for creating visually appealing materials that communicate UNICEF's mission and activities effectively. This includes laying out documents and publications, designing social media assets, creating promotional materials, and developing visual content for presentations. Duties and Responsibilities: The Freelance Graphic Designer will have a range of responsibilities, including:
Laying out documents and publications to ensure clarity and visual appeal.
Creating infographics that effectively communicate complex information in an engaging manner.
Designing social media assets to support advocacy campaigns and increase visibility.
Developing backdrops and creative materials for events.
Adapting posters for livestreaming and other digital formats.
Laying out Chinese versions of UNICEF Global reports based on established design templates.
Creating promotional materials such as flyers, posters, and banners that align with UNICEF's mission.
Designing and producing simple H5 pages for digital engagement.
Editing and enhancing infographics and booklets to meet specific project requirements. 1
Collaborating with the team to ensure brand consistency across all materials and adherence to UNICEF brand guidelines. 1
Providing creative input during brainstorming sessions to enhance the overall quality of communication materials.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree, with diplomas in relevant fields such as design, arts, communications, media, or advertisement considered an added value. A minimum of 3 years of proven experience in design work and creating infographics is required, along with a track record of producing content for international organizations, particularly UN agencies. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to conceptualize and package information effectively, create engaging infographics, and produce content in both English and Chinese. Familiarity with the latest graphic design trends and proficiency in high-end design software, particularly Adobe Creative Suite, is essential. Additionally, candidates must be able to work collaboratively in a multicultural team and meet tight deadlines.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree is mandatory for this position. Candidates with diplomas in relevant fields such as design, arts, communications, media, or advertisement will be viewed favorably. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in design principles and communication strategies, enabling the candidate to produce high-quality visual content.
Experience: The position requires at least 3 years of proven experience in design work, specifically in creating infographics and inclusive communication assets. Experience working with international organizations, especially UN agencies, on development issues is a significant advantage. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to unpack complex information and present it in a visually appealing and understandable manner.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Chinese is required for this position. Additional Notes: The position is a consultancy role, and individuals engaged under this contract will not be considered staff members under the UN regulations. The contract duration is expected to be three years, with a fixed rate applied throughout the validity of the Long Term Arrangement (LTA).
