Job Overview:
The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Humanitarian Programme Analyst at the UNFPA Indonesia Country Office. The primary focus of this internship is to support the humanitarian team in coordination, documentation, and information sharing related to the Reproductive Health (RH) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) sub-clusters. The intern will assist in organizing and facilitating meetings, preparing meeting minutes, and maintaining contact lists and activity trackers for the sub-clusters. This role is designed to provide the intern with valuable learning opportunities and skills enhancement in areas related to UNFPA’s mandate, while also contributing to the effective functioning of the humanitarian program.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordination Support: Assist in planning, organizing, and facilitating coordination meetings for the RH, GBV prevention and response, and Women’s Empowerment Sub-Clusters. This includes preparing logistical arrangements and materials for both virtual and in-person meetings.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Draft and finalize minutes of coordination meetings, ensuring accuracy and timely distribution to all relevant partners. The intern will also maintain an updated calendar of events and key activities for the National RH and GBV sub-cluster’s work plans.
  • Information Management: Update and maintain RH and GBV Sub-Cluster contact lists and communication platforms at both National and Sub-National levels, as well as activity trackers and other coordination tools to ensure timely and accurate information sharing.
  • Communication and Information Sharing: Support the dissemination of key information, updates, and resources to sub-cluster members and other stakeholders, ensuring consistency and clarity in all shared materials.
  • General Support: Provide administrative and logistical assistance for UNFPA humanitarian-related events and workshops, and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor in support of the humanitarian program and inter-agency coordination work. The intern is also expected to participate in online training related to Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Minimum Initial Service Package for Reproductive Health, and Gender-Based Violence in Emergency Settings.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program and have completed at least two years of full-time studies at the time of application, preferably in Public Health, Data Science, or Computer Science. Alternatively, candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in these fields and can commence the internship within one year of graduation are also eligible. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate a strong interest in development, proficiency in written and spoken English, and the ability to adapt to new environments while maintaining good working relationships with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Data Science, or Computer Science. The educational background should reflect a commitment to understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the importance of reproductive health and gender-based violence issues in emergency settings.

Experience:
While specific professional experience is not required, candidates with demonstrated involvement in university-based volunteer initiatives or active participation in organizing committees within campus or student organizations will be highly valued. Experience related to Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for Reproductive Health, and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in emergency settings is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages will be considered an asset, enhancing the intern's ability to communicate effectively within diverse teams and with various stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This internship is unpaid, and interns do not receive a salary or any other form of remuneration from UNFPA. Interns are responsible for their living expenses, accommodation, travel, and other requirements. However, they may receive a stipend to help cover basic daily expenses if not financially supported by any institution or program. Interns must also have medical insurance for the duration of the internship, with proof of insurance required before starting.
