Job Overview: The position of Consultor/a en Estrategias Productivas para ANP involves working on projects related to carbon capture in Protected Natural Areas (ANP). This includes reviewing and improving the Mexican Forest Protocol 3.0 of the Climate Action Reserve to incorporate carbon capture projects in priority territories. The consultant will play a crucial role in ensuring that these projects not only sequester carbon but also conserve ecosystems and provide economic benefits to local communities and landowners. The position is expected to start in May 2025 and will last for approximately six months, concluding in November 202
The consultant will work in a hybrid environment, attending both in-person and virtual meetings as required to achieve the consultancy's objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will have several key responsibilities, including:
Designing a comprehensive model for integrating actions that enhance the resilience of Protected Natural Areas.
Conducting a thorough review of the Mexican Forest Protocol 3.0 and proposing improvements to incorporate carbon capture projects.
Collaborating with local communities and stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of carbon capture initiatives.
Traveling across Mexican territories as required by the project to gather data and engage with local stakeholders.
Preparing reports and documentation related to the progress of the consultancy and the outcomes of the implemented strategies.
Participating in meetings with project supervisors and other stakeholders to discuss project developments and challenges.
Ensuring that all deliverables meet the satisfaction of UNDP and are completed according to the established timeline.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in environmental science, sustainable development, or a related field. They should have experience in project management, particularly in the context of environmental conservation and carbon capture initiatives. Strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders are essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to sustainable practices and community engagement.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainable development, or a related field is required. A master's degree or higher in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the position.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of professional experience in environmental consultancy, project management, or related fields. Experience working with Protected Natural Areas and knowledge of carbon capture projects will be highly advantageous. Familiarity with the Mexican environmental context and regulations is also preferred.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the consultancy will involve working with local communities and stakeholders. Proficiency in English is also desirable, as it may be necessary for reporting and communication with international partners.
