The fund has allocated significant resources to various proposals, including those from Sri Lanka, which received substantial funding for integrated health initiatives. The Pandemic Fund collaborates with organizations like FAO, World Bank, WHO, and UNICEF to implement its projects, ensuring a comprehensive approach to health system strengthening across regions.

Job Overview:
The Project Assistant position is integral to the successful implementation of the Pandemic Fund's initiatives in Sri Lanka. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Assistant FAO Representative (Programme) and will be closely guided by the FAO Lead Technical Officer in the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Sri Lanka Pandemic Fund Team Leader and the National Pandemic Fund Implementation Specialist. The Project Assistant will be responsible for supporting the operational aspects of the project, ensuring that activities are planned, executed, and documented effectively. This includes managing project timelines, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with FAO requirements. The position demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to coordinate with multiple partners to facilitate smooth project execution.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Assistant will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: providing organizational, operational, and logistical support to the Pandemic Fund project team; assisting in the planning and execution of project activities; maintaining comprehensive documentation; supporting procurement processes and contract management; organizing project events such as workshops and training sessions; coordinating with government counterparts and stakeholders; managing travel and logistics for the project team; maintaining project files and databases; assisting in the development of communication materials; preparing reports and meeting minutes; engaging with stakeholders at various levels; and ensuring the effective dissemination of communication materials. The role also involves coordinating with suppliers and service providers to ensure the successful execution of project-related events and activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Business Management, Arts, Information Technology, Emergency Management, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in project assistance or support is required. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of project management principles and practices, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint, is essential. Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills are also critical for success in this role.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as Business Management, Arts, Information Technology, or Emergency Management. Candidates must have obtained their qualifications from institutions recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED), ensuring that their educational credentials meet international standards.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in project assistance or project support. This experience should ideally include exposure to project management systems, financial management tools, and digital communication platforms. Candidates should have a proven track record of handling multiple tasks simultaneously and delivering results in a timely manner.

Languages:
Candidates must have a working knowledge of English and either Tamil or Sinhala. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication with stakeholders and partners involved in the project.
