Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Spécialiste national du financement de la biodiversité include:
Conducting a comprehensive analysis of existing biodiversity financing mechanisms in Togo.
Identifying funding gaps and opportunities for enhancing biodiversity financing.
Developing a national biodiversity financing plan that aligns with national development priorities and international commitments.
Engaging with stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, and private sector representatives, to gather input and build consensus on financing strategies.
Proposing innovative financing solutions, such as public-private partnerships, biodiversity offsets, and conservation trust funds.
Monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the financing plan, providing regular updates and recommendations for improvement.
Preparing reports and presentations to communicate findings and strategies to stakeholders.
Collaborating with other UN agencies and international organizations to align efforts and share best practices in biodiversity financing.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include:
Proven expertise in biodiversity financing and conservation strategies.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex financial mechanisms and their impact on biodiversity.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
Experience in project management and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of national and international biodiversity policies and frameworks.

Educational Background: Candidates should possess a minimum of a Master's degree in environmental science, finance, economics, or a related field. Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in biodiversity financing, environmental economics, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs on biodiversity projects is highly desirable. Proven track record of developing and implementing financing strategies for conservation initiatives is essential.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the official language of Togo. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international stakeholders and partners. Knowledge of local languages would also be beneficial.
