Job Overview:
The Project Management Support Analyst position is designed to provide essential support for the day-to-day management and implementation of a portfolio of projects within the Environment & Energy team at the Bangkok Regional Hub. The analyst will operate under the strategic guidance of the Regional Team Leader for Environment and Energy and will collaborate closely with team members, the Regional Programme Management Support Unit, GPN Teams, Country Office teams, and the Environment Governance Team at Headquarters. The role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of ongoing and upcoming regional projects and programmes related to environment, energy, and climate change. The analyst will be responsible for supporting the operationalization and implementation of regional projects, ensuring alignment with UNDP's strategic objectives, and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Environment & Energy team's initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Management Support Analyst will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: managing the regional component of the Sustainable Infrastructure Programme in Asia (SIPA), coordinating with partners and stakeholders, ensuring timely implementation of project activities, reviewing progress reports, supporting project closure and final reporting, assisting in the formulation and implementation of regional projects funded by the Government of China, preparing reports and presentations for project boards, applying Results Based Management tools, assisting in project budgeting and financial planning, tracking project progress and risks, supporting procurement processes, conducting research for project implementation, ensuring compliance with UNDP regulations, facilitating knowledge management and communication, and supporting the organization of thematic working groups and events. The analyst will also contribute to the identification of strategic programme areas and support the production of knowledge products and initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Development Studies, Natural Resource Management, Economics, International Relations, or a closely related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in a relevant field combined with two years of qualifying work experience will be considered. Applicants with a Master’s degree are not required to have professional work experience, while those with a Bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of two years of experience in development issues, program management, or related fields. Demonstrated experience in designing and managing cross-country knowledge exchange activities, facilitating South-South Cooperation initiatives, and coordinating high-profile events is essential. Familiarity with UNDP policies and experience in the Asia-Pacific region are advantageous.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in fields such as Development Studies, Natural Resource Management, Economics, or International Relations. A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in these areas, combined with relevant work experience, may also be acceptable. The emphasis is on candidates who have a strong academic foundation in development-related disciplines, which is crucial for understanding the complexities of the projects managed by the Environment & Energy team.

Experience:
The level of experience required for this position varies based on the educational qualifications of the candidate. Those with a Master’s degree are not required to have prior professional experience, while candidates with a Bachelor’s degree must have at least two years of relevant experience. This experience should include work on development issues, program management, and the facilitation of knowledge exchange activities across countries. Proven experience in leading South-South Cooperation initiatives and coordinating events at both country and regional levels is highly valued. Additionally, experience working in the Asia-Pacific region and familiarity with energy transition issues will enhance a candidate's suitability for the role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within UNDP. Proficiency in oral and written business communication skills in Chinese is considered highly advantageous, as it would facilitate collaboration with stakeholders and partners in the region. The ability to communicate effectively in both languages will enhance the analyst's capacity to engage with diverse audiences and contribute to project success.
