Job Overview: The Investment Analyst position at IFC is designed to support the Upstream (pre-investment) and Advisory work within the Manufacturing, Agribusiness, and Services (MAS) sectors in the Europe region. The role involves collaborating with IFC’s investment and operations officers who are tasked with identifying, designing, structuring, and implementing innovative and impactful engagements that lead to sustainable investments in the MAS sectors. The Investment Analyst will be responsible for conducting thorough research and analysis of relevant sectors, markets, and target companies, which includes sector mappings and assessments of business models and creditworthiness. The position requires a proactive approach to business development, contributing to the conceptualization and development of high-quality projects, and assisting in the design and implementation of engagement models that maximize private capital mobilization and support the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The role also involves project management responsibilities, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of project objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Duties and Responsibilities: The Investment Analyst will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including: supporting business development and origination by maintaining and upgrading strategic business development tools; contributing to the development of Upstream and Advisory projects through research and analytical activities; assisting in designing innovative engagement models with public and private sector players; supporting project management and supervision of deliverables; conducting thorough research and analysis of MAS sectors and target companies; performing financial and credit assessments, including analyzing historical financial statements and building financial models; conducting credit risk rating assessments; identifying data collection needs; preparing documentation for internal processes and reporting; and contributing to corporate initiatives and strategic tasks.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Investment Analyst position must possess a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. They should have 2-3 years of relevant work experience in a financial or business consultancy institution, particularly with a focus on investment projects and corporate strategies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to conduct financial statement analysis and possess proven aptitude in accounting, finance, financial modeling, and scenario analysis. Additionally, candidates should have strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, and the ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights.
