Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Librarian (Licensing and Data Management) include:
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to assess and understand the licensing needs of various client groups, including research analysts and economists.
  • Negotiating contract terms and pricing to secure favorable licensing agreements for the IMF and WBG.
  • Scheduling product trials, monitoring vendor contracts, and assisting with training and outreach engagements.
  • Supporting the transition to data feeds and negotiating favorable licensing terms.
  • Partnering with the Information Technology Department to enable access to data resources.
  • Analyzing usage data from internal and external systems to make informed retention and cancellation decisions for subscriptions.
  • Planning and coordinating projects to minimize duplication of subscriptions across formats.
  • Conducting market research to identify potential data resources that meet client needs.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with data providers. 1
  • Managing digital resources, including the selection and maintenance of e-books and online journals. 1
  • Documenting and communicating usage rights information from license agreements. 1
  • Assisting with budget-related tasks and other duties as assigned to support the Data & Information Section's work program.

Required Qualifications:
The minimum qualifications for this position include an advanced university degree in library or information science, or a related field, or a university degree supplemented by at least six years of relevant professional experience in negotiating and managing data and information resource subscriptions. Candidates should demonstrate experience in needs assessment, usage analysis, and negotiation of market data subscriptions. A proven understanding of the electronic information resources landscape and associated issues is essential, along with strong customer support skills and a willingness to assist others. Candidates must possess strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills, as well as the ability to foster productive relationships with stakeholders. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, along with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office software.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have completed an advanced university degree in library or information science, or a related field. Alternatively, a university degree supplemented by a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience is acceptable.
