Job Overview: The Communications Officer position within the IMF's Communications Department, specifically in the Internal Communications Division (COMIN), is designed for a dynamic and knowledgeable individual who can effectively contribute to the Fund's internal communications strategy. The role involves developing and implementing communication strategies that keep staff informed about institutional policies, programs, and workplace developments. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding writing, editorial, and presentation skills, along with a strong background in digital communications, particularly in managing SharePoint Online (SPO) websites. The position also requires familiarity with modern technologies and the use of AI in communication tasks. The Communications Officer will work closely with senior management and staff to shape institutional messages and promote a sense of community within the Fund, utilizing various platforms such as intranet articles, videos, and podcasts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Communications Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks under the supervision of the Division’s Management. Key duties include: contributing to the overall work of COMIN by collaborating with COM's management team and other divisions; enhancing internal communications through robust governance of digital platforms; actively participating in the COMIN digital team to finalize the intranet revamp project and strengthen staff engagement; assisting with intranet governance support to the Intranet Council Secretariat; leveraging data analytics from internal platforms to improve communication effectiveness; drafting and reviewing key institutional products such as memos and intranet articles; supporting departments with their internal communications; and contributing to additional assignments as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree or equivalent in communications, international relations, economics, or a related field. Alternatively, a university degree supplemented by a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. A good understanding of global economic issues and the IMF’s role, mandate, operations, and policies is essential. Candidates should have excellent knowledge of internal communications functions within organizations, proven hands-on skills in digital communications and data analytics, and experience with platforms such as SharePoint Online, Google Analytics, and Adobe products. Strong oral and written communication skills, good judgment, and the ability to communicate persuasively are also required. Demonstrated teamwork ability and the capacity to handle sensitive matters with diplomacy are crucial, along with the ability to manage short deadlines and balance overlapping requests.
