Job Overview: This position involves consultancy services aimed at implementing actions related to environmental health and exposure to chemical substances. The assignment is set for a duration of twelve months, during which the consultant will be responsible for delivering high-quality outputs that meet the expectations of the UNDP.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
Conduct thorough assessments of environmental health risks related to chemical exposure.
Develop and implement strategies for reducing exposure to harmful substances and mitigating their effects on health.
Collaborate with governmental and non-governmental organizations to promote public health initiatives.
Prepare detailed reports and documentation of findings and recommendations.
Engage in epidemiological studies and environmental assessments to gather data on chemical exposure.
Provide expert advice on public health policies and environmental regulations.
Facilitate training and workshops for stakeholders on best practices in health and environmental safety.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented strategies and interventions.
Ensure compliance with UNDP guidelines and standards throughout the consultancy period.
Required Qualifications: The position requires the following qualifications:
A professional degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Industrial Hygiene and Safety Engineering, or Medicine.
A Master's degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Epidemiology, or Toxicology is required; PhD qualifications will also be accepted to meet this requirement.
Proven expertise in environmental health and risk assessment related to chemical exposure.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in Spanish.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a professional degree in one of the following fields: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Industrial Hygiene and Safety Engineering, or Medicine. Additionally, a Master's degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Epidemiology, or Toxicology is required. Doctoral degrees in relevant fields will also be considered acceptable for this position.
Experience: A minimum of three years of experience is required in the evaluation or management of environmental or health risks associated with chemical exposure. This includes experience in conducting epidemiological, environmental, and toxicological studies related to chemical exposure, as well as designing and implementing intervention strategies to reduce chemical exposure and mitigate health effects. Experience in developing public health policies or conducting air, water, or soil quality studies is also essential.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
