Job Overview: The position of Consultant(e) International(e) en Intelligence Artificielle involves recruiting an international consultant to enhance awareness and capacity building in artificial intelligence. The consultant will be responsible for developing strategies and frameworks that promote the understanding and application of AI technologies within the context of UNDP's mission in Togo. This role is crucial as it aims to leverage AI to improve governance, enhance service delivery, and foster innovation in public administration. The consultant will work closely with local stakeholders, government agencies, and other partners to ensure that AI initiatives are aligned with national development goals and are sustainable in the long term. The position requires a deep understanding of AI technologies, their implications for development, and the ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be expected to perform a variety of duties, including but not limited to: conducting assessments of current AI capabilities and needs within Togo; developing training materials and workshops to build local capacity in AI; collaborating with government officials and local organizations to implement AI projects; providing expert advice on best practices in AI deployment; monitoring and evaluating the impact of AI initiatives; preparing reports and presentations for stakeholders; and ensuring that all activities are in compliance with UNDP policies and procedures. The consultant will also be responsible for facilitating discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions to promote the understanding of AI among various stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in artificial intelligence, data science, or a related field. They should have proven experience in capacity building and training, particularly in the context of technology and innovation. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and have the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including government officials, civil society, and the private sector. A strong understanding of the ethical implications of AI and its application in development contexts is also essential. Candidates should be adaptable, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Educational Background: A master's degree or higher in artificial intelligence, computer science, data science, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in AI technologies, machine learning, or data analytics will be considered an asset. Candidates should also have a strong academic record and a commitment to continuous professional development in the field of AI.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the field of artificial intelligence or related areas. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in developing countries, is highly desirable. Proven track record of successfully implementing AI projects or initiatives, as well as experience in capacity building and training, is essential. Familiarity with the UN system and its operations will be an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the official language of Togo. Proficiency in English is also highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with international stakeholders. Knowledge of other local languages will be considered an asset, as it may enhance engagement with local communities.
Additional Notes: This position is for a fixed-term consultancy from May to June 202
The consultant will be expected to work full-time during this period. The role is open to both national and international candidates, and compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The consultant will be required to submit regular progress reports and participate in meetings with UNDP staff and stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives.
