Job Overview:
The position of Individual Consultant is focused on assisting in the design, establishment, and operational rollout of the Center for Sustainable Blue Economy Innovation in Aqaba, Jordan. This role is crucial for the successful implementation of initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable practices in the blue economy sector. The consultant will be expected to engage with various stakeholders, including government entities, local communities, and international organizations, to ensure that the center operates effectively and meets its objectives. The consultant will work on a deliverable-based assignment over a period of three months, which requires a strategic approach to project management and a deep understanding of sustainable development principles.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for a range of duties including but not limited to: conducting a comprehensive needs assessment for the Center for Sustainable Blue Economy Innovation; developing a strategic plan for the center's operations; facilitating stakeholder engagement sessions to gather input and foster collaboration; designing operational frameworks and guidelines for the center; providing technical expertise in sustainable blue economy practices; monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the center's initiatives; preparing detailed reports and presentations for UNDP and other stakeholders; and ensuring compliance with UNDP procurement and operational policies throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in sustainable development, particularly in the context of the blue economy. A proven track record of working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs in similar roles is essential. The consultant should have excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with UNDP's operational procedures and procurement processes will be an advantage.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, Marine Biology, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in project management or related areas will be considered a plus. The educational background should reflect a strong understanding of the principles of sustainable development and the blue economy.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in project management, particularly in the field of sustainable development or blue economy initiatives. Experience working with UN agencies or similar international organizations is highly desirable. The consultant should demonstrate a history of successful project implementation and stakeholder engagement, showcasing their ability to drive results in complex environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an asset, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the consultant's effectiveness in the role. Additional language skills relevant to the region may also be beneficial.

Additional Notes:
This position is a short-term consultancy role with a contract duration of three months. It is expected to be a full-time engagement, requiring the consultant to be available for the duration of the assignment. The consultant will be working remotely but may be required to travel to Aqaba for stakeholder meetings and site assessments. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and in line with UNDP's consultancy rates. The consultant will be expected to submit proposals directly through the UNDP supplier portal, adhering to the specified guidelines and deadlines.
