Job Overview: The Program Analyst position at UN Women is crucial for providing administrative and programmatic support to the Global and Afghanistan Portfolio under the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) Women Human Rights Defenders (WHRD) Window. The role involves contributing to the design, formulation, implementation, and evaluation of the window’s outputs and activities. The Program Analyst will work closely with various stakeholders, including program and operations teams, UN Women HQ staff, government officials, and civil society, to ensure successful implementation of the WHRD Window’s initiatives. The position requires a strong analytical mindset to assess results achieved during implementation and support the application of systems and procedures effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute technically to the development and implementation of the WPHF WHRD window’s strategies by providing inputs to program/project proposals and annual workplans.
Monitor progress on the window’s activities and support reporting against results and indicators, including inputs to quarterly and donor reports.
Support the management of finances by monitoring budget implementation and providing inputs to financial reports.
Contribute to building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies, maintaining databases related to the WPHF WHRD window.
Provide inputs to advocacy, knowledge building, and communication efforts, including background documents and knowledge management products.
Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, international development, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A project/program management certification such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP® is an added advantage. Candidates should demonstrate strong technical skills in program formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, along with knowledge of Results Based Management.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position is a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, or international development. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be considered. A project/program management certification is also beneficial.
Experience: At least 1 year of relevant work experience in development program/project implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building is required. Experience in Women, Peace and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security is desirable, as is experience in coordinating and liaising with government agencies and/or donors.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Dari and/or Pashto is considered desirable, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders in the context of the Global and Afghanistan Portfolios.
