Job Overview:
The position involves analyzing reports submitted by Member States regarding measures to end violence against women and girls. Volunteers will extract, categorize, and compile these measures into an Excel-based database. The role requires translating measures from languages other than English into English. Each volunteer will be assigned a list of countries based on their language skills and interests. An initial orientation session will be provided to train volunteers on the data entry process, with ongoing support available throughout the assignment. This role is crucial in strengthening the knowledge base for effective policy responses to violence against women and ensuring comprehensive access to information on government measures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Analyze reports submitted by Member States on measures to end violence against women and girls.
  • Extract and categorize reported measures, including laws, policies, services, and prevention initiatives.
  • Compile the extracted data into an Excel-based database.
  • Translate measures from languages other than English into English as needed.
  • Participate in an initial orientation session to understand the data entry process.
  • Engage in ongoing support and exchange with other Online UNVs throughout the assignment.
  • Ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness of data entered into the database.
  • Contribute to the strengthening of the knowledge base for effective policy responses to violence against women.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in English and at least one other language, particularly for translation tasks.
  • Familiarity with data entry and database management.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
  • Commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment.
  • Experience in research or data analysis is an asset.

Educational Background:
A background in social sciences, gender studies, international relations, or a related field is preferred. Relevant coursework or training in data analysis or database management is also beneficial.

Experience:
Previous experience in research, data analysis, or working with databases is desirable but not mandatory. Experience in gender-related issues or working with international organizations can be an advantage.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages, especially those spoken in the assigned countries, is highly desirable for translation tasks.

This is a remote volunteer position. The duration of the assignment is not specified, but volunteers will receive a final certificate from UN Women upon successful completion of their tasks.
