Job Overview:
This internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is designed for individuals who are eager to gain practical experience in the field of political and peacebuilding affairs within the United Nations framework. The intern will work closely with the Northeast Asia and the Pacific Team in the Asia and the Pacific Division of the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA). The role is hybrid, allowing for both in-person and remote work, and is expected to last for six months, requiring a full-time commitment of 35 hours per week. The intern will be involved in various aspects of the team's work, including research, report preparation, and project management, thereby contributing to the UN's peacebuilding efforts in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's responsibilities will include conducting research on issues related to UN peacebuilding efforts in Asia and the Pacific, preparing reports, concept papers, policy documents, and other materials pertinent to the team's work. The intern will assist in developing strategic communications, presentations, and visualizations, as well as attending conferences and meetings to take notes and provide support. Additional duties will involve data collection, information management, and assisting with project management development. The intern is expected to demonstrate professionalism, effective communication, and teamwork throughout their tenure.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Candidates must also provide proof of their academic status and be prepared to submit an official certificate later in the application process.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program. The educational background should ideally be in a field related to political science, international relations, peace studies, or a similar discipline that aligns with the responsibilities of the internship.

Experience:
While prior professional work experience is not a prerequisite for this internship, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic knowledge and skills that pertain to the duties outlined. The internship is particularly suited for students in their final year of study or recent graduates seeking to gain experience in the international arena.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations. Knowledge of an additional UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's application.
