Job Overview: The Programme Associate for Nutrition will play a crucial role in providing specialized technical and coordination support for nutrition evidence generation activities. This includes the design and implementation of assessments, pilots, and operational research under the Joint UN Initiative on Prevention (JUNIPR). The individual in this position is expected to demonstrate a high level of responsibility and initiative, responding independently to various queries related to country capacity strengthening and research initiatives. The role requires sound judgment in addressing operational challenges and effectively coordinating resources. The Programme Associate will work under the overall supervision of the Head of Nutrition and will report directly to the Programme Policy Officer, Nutrition, at the country office. This position is vital for ensuring that nutrition-specific and sensitive programs are implemented effectively, with a strong focus on evidence generation and collaboration with various stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical and operational support for the implementation of nutrition-specific and sensitive programs, particularly focused on evidence generation under JUNIPR.
Support planning, coordination, and implementation of research initiatives, assessments, pilots, and proof-of-concept activities.
Assist in data analysis, synthesis of findings, and preparation of reports, policy briefs, and knowledge products.
Coordinate with RAM and other units, as well as external stakeholders including UN agencies and government.
Support project management including work plans, budgets, procurement, and administrative follow-up.
Participate in the review of partner proposals, budgets, and reports and contribute to partnership agreements and processes.
Organize and facilitate training sessions, learning events, and knowledge exchange with partners and counterparts.
Manage documentation and dissemination of good practices and lessons learned.
Monitor expenditures, financial reports, and donor reporting per approved work plans. 1
Act as focal point for operational issue resolution related to assigned tasks.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical and report writing skills, along with project management and time management capabilities. Excellent facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to coordinate with diverse stakeholders including government, UN, and partners. The candidate must demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in responding to dynamic and evolving priorities, and should be a team player capable of multitasking and managing competing deadlines. Additionally, the candidate should have experience supervising or implementing nutrition or social science research, as well as experience in the implementation of security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security or nutrition programs. Prior experience with government or UN agencies in public health, nutrition, or development sectors is highly desirable, along with experience in capacity strengthening, such as training facilitation and technical supervision of partners' staff and/or government counterparts.
Educational Background: Completion of a University Degree (Bachelors) in Nutrition, social sciences, international development, public health, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively contribute to the nutrition evidence generation activities and support the implementation of nutrition-specific and sensitive programs.
Experience: The candidate must have a total of six years of experience in a related area or program. This experience should encompass a range of relevant activities, including but not limited to the implementation of nutrition programs, research initiatives, and collaboration with various stakeholders in the field of public health and nutrition.
Languages: Fluency in both spoken and written English and Bangla is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in these languages is crucial for effective communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, UN organizations, and local partners. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
Additional Notes: This position is a Service Contract with a duration of 12 months, based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
