Job Overview:
The position of Project Coordinator involves assisting in the coordination of the project aimed at supporting the Senegalese Agency for Reforestation and the Great Green Wall (PAREC-CC/GMV). This project, which spans five years, focuses on enhancing the resilience of ecosystems and communities against climate change. The coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing the annual work plan and budget, conceptualizing a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation system, and ensuring that project activities align with the OPIM model. The role requires a proactive approach to data collection, analysis, and reporting, with a strong emphasis on stakeholder engagement and communication.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator will have a wide range of responsibilities, including: assisting in the development and implementation of the annual work plan and budget; conceptualizing and developing a complete monitoring and evaluation system; preparing mid-term review missions and final project evaluations; developing a management and dissemination system for project information; drafting periodic monitoring reports; contributing to the design of monitoring plans based on SMART indicators; reviewing narrative reports for submission to donors; collecting data for project analysis and evaluation; supporting the preparation of semi-annual and annual review meetings; analyzing data to assess project outcomes; supervising data collection and processing; identifying training needs for partners; and updating knowledge on innovations in monitoring and evaluation. The coordinator will also be expected to demonstrate strong communication skills, initiative, and the ability to work under pressure.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical and organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. They should have experience in project management, particularly in monitoring and evaluation, and be proficient in data analysis and reporting. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with the agricultural and environmental sectors, particularly in the context of climate change, is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, agriculture, project management, or a related discipline is required. A master's degree would be an advantage, particularly in areas related to climate change, food security, or sustainable development.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of relevant experience in project coordination, monitoring and evaluation, or a similar role. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of development projects in Africa, is highly valued. Familiarity with the specific challenges and opportunities related to climate change and food security in Senegal would be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in Senegal. Proficiency in English is also desirable, as it may be necessary for reporting and communication with international stakeholders. Knowledge of local languages would be an asset.

Additional Notes:
The position is based in Dakar, which is classified as a family duty station. The living conditions in Dakar are generally good, with access to healthcare services and a vibrant community. The project is funded by Global Affairs Canada in partnership with FAO, and the coordinator will be expected to engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies and local communities. The role may involve travel to project sites in the Louga, Matam, and Tambacounda regions, and candidates should be prepared for fieldwork as required. The position is full-time, and the contract duration is aligned with the project timeline.
