Job Overview:
The (Senior) Investment Officer position at IFC in Kyiv is a pivotal role that focuses on business development and client relationship management within the Manufacturing, Agribusiness & Services (MAS) Industry Group. This group plays a crucial role in supporting IFC’s strategic priorities by investing in sectors that are vital for economic growth, such as manufacturing, agribusiness, and services, which include health, education, tourism, retail, and property. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading the origination, evaluation, structuring, negotiation, and closing of new investment transactions. This role requires a proactive approach to developing innovative financial structures for both complex and straightforward transactions, as well as mentoring junior investment staff. The Investment Officer will also coordinate MAS activities with the World Bank in Ukraine, ensuring that the investment strategies align with the broader goals of sustainable development and economic growth in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The chosen candidate will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: leading the origination, evaluation, structuring, negotiation, and closing of new transactions; developing innovative financial structures for various types of transactions; guiding and mentoring junior investment staff; overseeing mapping exercises with the assistance of investment analysts; participating in and preparing investment process documentation for internal review and decision-making; leading negotiations with clients and stakeholders; utilizing financial competencies and personal influencing skills to navigate negotiations and interactions effectively; collaborating with junior and senior staff to build a strong pipeline of quality investment opportunities; overseeing the preparation of presentations and documentation for internal reporting and external communication; building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, private businesses, banking and multilateral partners, and government officials; coordinating with upstream and advisory teams to add value to client businesses and address sector challenges; and identifying and evaluating opportunities that are financially sustainable and socially impactful.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an MBA or an equivalent qualification, along with a minimum of 10 years of experience in finance, demonstrating a proven track record in sourcing, structuring, and closing investments. The ability to interact directly and independently with senior management of potential clients, financial and technical partners, and government officials is essential. Candidates should have demonstrated knowledge of industry trends and opportunities in Ukraine, as well as an understanding of local issues and challenges. Proven business development and client relationship skills are critical, along with a strong focus on client needs during the origination and execution phases. Additionally, candidates must exhibit strong financial modeling abilities, financial and credit skills, and the capacity to structure various financial instruments, including debt, equity, and mezzanine financing.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an MBA or an equivalent qualification that provides a strong foundation in finance, investment, and business management. This advanced degree is essential for understanding complex financial structures and investment strategies necessary for the role.

Experience:
The position requires at least 10 years of relevant experience in finance, particularly in areas related to sourcing, structuring, and closing investments. Candidates should have a proven track record of successful investment management and business development, demonstrating their ability to navigate complex financial environments and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with international partners. Proficiency in Ukrainian is preferred, as it will enhance the candidate's ability to engage with local clients and stakeholders effectively.
