Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator for Interpretation Services plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of interpretation services at the IMF. This position involves coordinating various logistical and administrative tasks related to interpretation assignments, which may occur in-person, hybrid, or remotely. The incumbent will be responsible for processing time-sensitive requests, making arrangements for complex interpretation assignments, and ensuring that all requests align with the users' needs and comply with established rules and procedures. The role requires effective communication with various stakeholders, including mission chiefs, technical assistance experts, and interpreters, to facilitate the selection and assignment of suitable interpreters from a global roster. The Project Coordinator will also assist in contract administration and provide support during major IMF meetings, ensuring that all interpretation services are delivered seamlessly and professionally.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Coordinator include:
  • Processing and managing time-sensitive requests for interpretation services, ensuring compliance with IMF policies.
  • Making logistical and administrative arrangements for interpretation assignments, including multi-city missions and multilingual events.
  • Acting as a liaison between requestors of interpretation services and various stakeholders, including mission chiefs and technical assistance experts.
  • Assisting the Chief Interpreter in selecting suitable interpreters and offering assignments through effective communication.
  • Preparing letters of agreement, cost estimates, payment requests, and receipts related to interpretation services.
  • Proofreading correspondence and contracts for accuracy and clarity.
  • Supporting the Chief Interpreter’s Office during major IMF meetings and events.
  • Coordinating logistical support for recruitment campaigns for interpretation services.
  • Managing data in the Interpretation Office System and Scheduler (IOS) database. 1
  • Maintaining and deploying portable simultaneous interpretation equipment and training technicians and interpreters on its use.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
  • A university degree or equivalent in Translation, Linguistics, Economics, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience at Grade A05 or equivalent.
  • Excellent drafting skills in English, along with strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Proven negotiating skills and excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with IMF staff at all levels.
  • Command of French, Spanish, or Russian is desirable, with knowledge of additional languages considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with IMF administrative policies and procedures.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of portable simultaneous interpretation equipment.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software, with the ability to quickly learn new software applications.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed a university degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as Translation, Linguistics, or Economics. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of interpretation services and the economic context in which the IMF operates.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within an international organization or a similar environment. Experience in project coordination, particularly in interpretation services, is highly valued. The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously is crucial for success in this position.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, with excellent drafting and communication skills. Knowledge of French, Spanish, or Russian is highly desirable, and proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a multilingual environment.
