Job Overview:
The Humanitarian Access and Security Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring that humanitarian operations can be conducted safely and effectively in Nigeria. This position involves assessing security risks, developing access strategies, and coordinating with local authorities and other stakeholders to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid. The coordinator will be responsible for monitoring the security situation, providing timely updates to the team, and implementing security protocols to protect staff and beneficiaries. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to navigate complex environments while maintaining a focus on the organization's mission to assist those in need.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular security assessments to identify potential risks to staff and operations.
  • Develop and implement security plans and protocols for field operations.

  • Provide training and support to staff on security awareness and emergency procedures.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to assess and mitigate security risks in complex environments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the role requires collaboration with various stakeholders. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to humanitarian principles and have experience working in security management within the humanitarian sector. Familiarity with the context in Nigeria and previous experience in similar roles will be advantageous.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as international relations, security studies, or humanitarian affairs is required. A master's degree or additional certifications in security management or related fields will be considered an asset.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in security management or related roles within the humanitarian sector. Experience working in conflict zones or high-risk environments is highly desirable. Proven track record of developing and implementing security protocols and strategies is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in local languages spoken in Nigeria is highly desirable and will enhance communication with local stakeholders and communities.
