Job Overview:
The Programme Analyst, Communications position is crucial for advancing UNFPA's mandate and Country Programme priorities through effective external communication, advocacy, and program communication strategies. The role involves working closely with various stakeholders, including UNFPA representatives, programme analysts, and external partners, to enhance the visibility of UNFPA's work and maintain a positive public image. The Communications Analyst will be responsible for developing and implementing the Country Office's External Communications and Advocacy strategy, analyzing relevant political, social, and economic developments, and ensuring that communication efforts align with UNFPA's goals and objectives. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for strategic communications interventions and engaging with the media and civil society to promote UNFPA's mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Analyst will undertake a variety of duties, including monitoring and analyzing the political, social, and economic environment relevant to UNFPA's work, guiding internal and external communications, coordinating the development of communication and advocacy strategies, and maintaining relationships with traditional and social media. The role also involves drafting and editing articles, press releases, and social media content, managing the UNFPA website and social media accounts, organizing public support for special events, overseeing the production of advocacy materials, and participating in the UN Communications Group. Additionally, the Communications Analyst will lead initiatives aimed at raising awareness about reproductive health, gender equality, and youth empowerment, build the capacity of national partners in effective communication, and advise on donor relations to support resource mobilization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related social science field. Prior experience in communication and advocacy on social issues, media relationship management, and digital media is highly desirable. Demonstrated knowledge of communication approaches, tools, and methodologies is essential. The ideal candidate should also have a strong understanding of resource mobilization and communication for behavior and social change.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related social science field is required for this position. This educational background is critical for understanding the complexities of communication strategies and advocacy efforts within the context of UNFPA's mission and objectives.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in communication and advocacy, particularly in social issues, media relationship management, and digital media. Experience in resource mobilization and communication for behavior and social change is considered an advantage. The role requires a demonstrated ability to apply communication approaches and tools effectively in various contexts.

Languages:
Fluency in English, Romanian, and Russian is mandatory for this position. Additionally, working knowledge of one or more additional languages relevant to Moldova, such as Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Gagauzian, Romani, or sign language, would be an asset. Proficiency in multiple languages is beneficial for engaging with diverse communities and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and offers a fixed-term contract for one year, with the possibility of renewal. It is important to note that this position is open only to nationals of the Republic of Moldova.
