Job Overview: The Head of Operations at Plan International Liberia plays a crucial role in leading and managing a team of functional experts across various domains, including logistics, procurement, supply chain, fleet management, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and ICT. This position is integral to ensuring the delivery of quality and integrated support functions that align with Plan International's standards and frameworks. As a core member of the Country Leadership Team (CLT), the Head of Operations collaborates closely with other department heads, including finance, People & Culture, programs, and program quality delivery. The role also involves stepping in for the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director when necessary, ensuring continuity in leadership and operational effectiveness. The Head of Operations will be instrumental in implementing the organization's new country strategy, which focuses on safeguarding, gender transformative programming, and influencing practices that empower marginalized children and girls.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the operations team, ensuring effective logistics, procurement, supply chain management, fleet management, security, and ICT support.
Collaborate with the Country Director and other CLT members to develop and implement operational strategies that align with the organization's goals.
Ensure compliance with Plan International's operational standards and procedures.
Oversee the development and management of operational budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Facilitate training and capacity building for staff in operational functions.
Monitor and evaluate operational performance, implementing improvements as necessary.
Represent Plan International in external meetings and forums related to operations.
Manage relationships with external partners and stakeholders to enhance operational effectiveness. 1
Prepare and present operational reports to the Country Director and other stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in operations management, preferably in a humanitarian or development context.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Strong understanding of logistics, procurement, and supply chain management principles.
Experience in budget management and financial oversight.
Knowledge of safeguarding and gender equality issues in development work.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with various stakeholders.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in business administration, management, logistics, or a related field is required. A master's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant area is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Experience in the humanitarian or development sector is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Liberia is an advantage but not required.
