Job Overview: The Senior Information Technology Assistant will play a crucial role in providing technical assistance and supervision in desktop administration, server operations, and service support. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating the work of the team, ensuring effective distribution of tasks, and monitoring progress. The position requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem resolution, as well as the ability to provide guidance and training to junior staff. The role also involves liaising with other organizational units to address issues affecting desktop administration and configuration, ensuring that software distributions are delivered correctly, and overseeing server operations to maintain efficient and reliable systems. The incumbent will be expected to keep abreast of technological developments and provide training to both technical staff and end-users, ensuring that the organization remains at the forefront of information technology solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Information Technology Assistant include:
Desktop Administration and Configuration: Providing technical assistance and team supervision, planning and coordinating team work, distributing assignments, monitoring progress, guiding and training new staff, establishing procedures for monitoring software distributions, overseeing updates and support, conducting research on new software versions, performing troubleshooting, providing technical advice, and designing internal databases.
Server Operations and Administration: Supervising server operations, planning and coordinating team work, overseeing installation and configuration of server hardware and software, ensuring 24x7 operations, troubleshooting complex server issues, and maintaining documentation.
Service Installation and Support: Supervising installation and support staff, ensuring service requests are logged and tracked, diagnosing and resolving hardware/software issues, providing training, and generating performance reports.
Procurement and Logistics: Overseeing logistics operations, managing inventory supplies, ensuring security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security procedures are followed, and assisting in procurement specifications.
Service Coordination: Supervising service coordination staff, ensuring requests are logged, implementing quality assurance procedures, and liaising with other areas of OICT.
Other: Assisting with data collection and analysis, preparing presentations and reports, and updating information materials.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Ten years of experience in information technology or a related area is required, with a focus on client-oriented services. Experience in data analytics is desirable, and ITIL certification is also considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of information technology principles and practices, particularly in client service settings, and exhibit professionalism and commitment to gender equality in the workplace.
Educational Background: A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
