Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position under the direct supervision of the Gender Programme Analyst at UNFPA Timor-Leste involves supporting the gender team in implementing the National Action Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV). The intern will engage in a structured work-plan that outlines specific achievements and learning opportunities throughout the internship. Regular progress meetings will be held to foster a supportive environment that enhances the intern's skills and capacity in alignment with UNFPA's mandate. The role is designed to provide practical experience in gender-based violence prevention initiatives and case management systems, as well as operationalizing national hotlines for violence against women and children.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for supporting the review, definition, assessment, and scaling up of evidence-based GBV prevention initiatives. They will assist the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion (MSSI) in establishing and strengthening a comprehensive GBV case management system in Timor-Leste. Additionally, the intern will support the development and operationalization of a national hotline/helpline for violence against women (VAW) and violence against children (VAC). The intern will also aid in enhancing coordination, monitoring, and evaluation mechanisms for the effective implementation of the National Action Plan on GBV (NAP-GBV).

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in a postgraduate degree or master's program. They should demonstrate a strong interest in development, possess written and spoken proficiency in English (the working language of the UN), and show fluency in the official language of the UNFPA office. The ability to adapt to new environments and maintain good working relationships with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds is essential.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Gender and Women Studies, Development Studies, Social Science, or enrollment in a postgraduate degree in one of these fields is required for the internship position.

Experience:
Candidates should have some experience working with development agencies, including volunteer roles. Previous experience in GBV prevention and response is highly desirable. A strong track record in supporting local and international NGOs and/or government institutions in GBV prevention, monitoring and evaluation, and coordination is preferred. Strong analytical and writing skills, along with initiative and sound judgment, are also important for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of the UN. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's profile for the internship.

Additional Notes:
The internship is unpaid, and interns do not receive a salary or remuneration from UNFPA. Costs associated with the internship must be covered by the intern or their nominating institution. However, a stipend may be provided to help cover basic daily expenses if the intern is not financially supported by any institution. Interns are required to have medical insurance for the duration of the internship, and proof of insurance must be submitted before starting.
