Job Overview:
The position of Praktikant/in Bilaterale Klima- und Energiepartnerschaften involves supporting the Germany team of the Climate and Energy Partnerships (KEP) under the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). This internship is designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to the dialogue on energy and climate policy, particularly in relation to decarbonization and the transformation of energy systems. Interns will engage in various activities, including assisting with ongoing consulting requests, organizing events, and developing the area of cooperation with civil society and think tanks. The role also includes the opportunity to conduct an individual project related to the themes of energy transition and decarbonization during the internship period.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a range of tasks, including:
  • Assisting with the processing of ongoing consulting requests from KEP secretariats.
  • Supporting the conception, organization, and evaluation of activities and events related to climate and energy partnerships.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the work area focused on civil society and think tanks, including the gender-energy nexus in the context of the energy transition and industrial decarbonization.
  • Supporting knowledge and information management within the team.
  • Conducting an individual project, such as a study, in the aforementioned thematic area during the internship.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should be enrolled in or have recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in cultural, social, or political sciences, or possess comparable academic qualifications. They should have initial experience working with NGOs, ideally in the energy or climate sector. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, along with a service-oriented mindset. Candidates should enjoy writing and be fluent in both English and German. Proficiency in common MS Office applications is also required.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program, or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship. The internship is only available to those who are currently enrolled or are in a training program that requires an internship as an integral part of their studies.

Experience:
Candidates should have some prior experience, preferably in NGOs or related fields, particularly in energy or climate issues. This experience can be through internships, volunteer work, or relevant academic projects that demonstrate an understanding of the energy transition and climate policy.

Languages:
Fluency in both German and English is mandatory for this position, as the role involves communication and documentation in both languages. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
