Job Overview:
The internship is situated within the Chinese Unit of the Web Services Section of the News and Media Division of the Department of Global Communications. This section is pivotal in managing the UN's primary public internet presence, including the flagship website www.un.org and various related sub-sites. The intern will engage in a variety of tasks that support the UN's mission to disseminate information effectively. The role is designed to be full-time and in-person, although it can be adjusted to accommodate the successful candidate's needs. The internship is expected to last between three to six months, providing a comprehensive experience in web content management and multimedia communications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will undertake several responsibilities, including conducting research on thematic issues relevant to the UN, adapting web content by rewriting or translating materials from English to Chinese, and assisting in the maintenance and updating of websites using HTML, SHTML, CSS, WordPress, or Drupal. Additional duties include drafting, formatting, editing, and posting original web content and news stories, incorporating graphics, photos, and videos. The intern will also edit existing videos by adding subtitles or audio and may produce short videos from existing footage. Proficiency in multimedia communications and IT/web-related tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite and various programming languages (PHP, HTML5, CSS3), will be essential for performing these tasks. Furthermore, the intern will analyze data and web metrics, generating reports as necessary to inform ongoing web strategies.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Additionally, candidates should be computer literate in standard software applications and demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, along with a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter. The ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs is also crucial, as is a willingness to understand and tolerate differing opinions and views. A completed online application, including a Cover Note and Personal History Profile, is required, and incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or completion will be required at a later stage of the application process. The field of study should be closely related to the internship role, ensuring that candidates possess relevant academic knowledge and skills.

Experience:
While professional work experience is not a prerequisite for applicants to the UN Internship Programme, candidates should have a field of study that closely aligns with the internship they are applying for. Languages:
