Job Overview:

The primary focus of this role is to support the office's mission to enhance the UN's response to sexual exploitation and abuse across its various operations. The intern will be expected to engage in research related to the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, which includes media monitoring, data collection, and analysis. Additionally, the intern will assist in implementing both internal and external communication strategies, contributing to the production of multimedia content, and maintaining various communications materials. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about the work of the United Nations and are eager to contribute to meaningful initiatives aimed at improving the organization's response to critical issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at supporting the OSCSEA's objectives. Key responsibilities include: conducting thorough research on issues related to the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, which involves media monitoring and data collection; supporting the implementation of communication strategies both internally and externally; assisting in the production of multimedia content, including photography, videography, and the design of social media graphics; drafting, updating, and maintaining presentations and other communication materials; and undertaking additional responsibilities as required by the office. The intern will work closely with staff members to ensure that all communications are aligned with the office's goals and effectively convey the necessary messages to various stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet specific criteria set by the United Nations Internship Programme. Candidates must either be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). While no prior working experience is required, candidates should possess skills and knowledge that will benefit the United Nations during their internship. This includes being computer literate in standard software applications and demonstrating a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, along with a personal commitment to the ideals outlined in the UN Charter.
