Job Overview: The Locum Clinic Physician will play a crucial role in providing medical services to staff members of ESCAP and other UN specialized agencies. The Clinic Physician will work closely with the Medical Officer and the Human Resources team, contributing to the overall health and wellness of the UN workforce. The Clinic Physician will also be involved in the management of health-related data and will support the development of health education programs for staff.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Clinic Physician will undertake a variety of clinical duties, including but not limited to: conducting walk-in consultations, managing medical emergencies, providing work and travel-related medical clearances, administering immunizations, and offering travel health advice. The physician will document all services in the UN Medical Service's online medical database, Earthmed. Additionally, the role includes providing COVID-19 support, such as contact tracing, workplace prevention guidance, and vaccination advice. The Clinic Physician will address occupational health issues, advise on medical standards for recruitment and sick leave, and ensure the availability of medical supplies and equipment. The position also involves supporting health education and training programs, and performing other related duties as assigned by the Medical Officer.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a degree in Medicine, with residency training in at least one medical specialty, preferably in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. A background in occupational health, tropical medicine, travel medicine, or public health is highly desirable. The position requires a minimum of seven years of progressive clinical experience, demonstrating a strong foundation in medical practice and patient care.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position includes a medical degree from a recognized institution, along with completion of residency training in a relevant medical specialty. Additional qualifications in occupational health or public health are advantageous and may enhance a candidate's suitability for the role.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least seven years of progressive clinical experience, which may include work in various healthcare settings. Experience in occupational health or public health is particularly relevant, as the role involves addressing health issues specific to the workplace and community health.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in the Thai language is considered a distinct advantage, as it may facilitate communication with local staff and patients.
