Job Overview: The position involves providing technical and conceptual contributions to the development of comprehensive care policies and systems, with a focus on territorial approaches and gender equality in Latin America and the Caribbean. The consultant will be responsible for producing substantive inputs for strategic documents of the Gender Affairs Division of ECLAC, including contributions for the Position Paper for the XVI Regional Conference on Women, conceptual guidelines on care in territories, and a support report for technical assistance processes. The work must align with the principles of the Montevideo Strategy and the objectives of the GIZ Care Economy project. The consultant will work from home and is expected to contribute significantly to the development of care policies that address gender and sustainable development issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review and provide substantive content on the care economy for the draft Position Paper for the XVI Regional Conference on Women.
Develop conceptual contributions for the technical document on care policies in the territories of Latin America and the Caribbean, from a gender and sustainable development perspective.
Draft a support report for the technical assistance provided by ECLAC to Chile in designing and implementing the National Support and Care System.
Ensure the alignment of products with the guidelines of the Montevideo Strategy and the objectives of the project.
Perform other tasks related to the project and the activities of the Division.
Required Qualifications: • Education: Required: A university degree in social sciences, sociology, political science, economics, or related fields. Desirable: A postgraduate degree, Master's, or other advanced courses in social sciences is preferred. • Experience: Required: At least 5 years of research experience in labor market issues, paid domestic work, and care. Desirable: Experience in public policies for gender equality is preferred.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in social sciences, sociology, political science, economics, or related fields. A postgraduate degree or Master's in social sciences is desirable, indicating a higher level of expertise in the relevant areas.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of research experience in topics related to the labor market, paid domestic work, and care. This level of experience is essential to ensure that the consultant can effectively contribute to the development of care policies and provide the necessary technical assistance.
Languages: The mandatory language for this position is Spanish, which the consultant must have a strong command of.
