This position involves a wide range of responsibilities, including the development of project implementation plans, writing detailed project proposals, and managing communications with stakeholders. The coordinator will be expected to attend meetings, generate statistical content, create agendas and presentations, and provide administrative support for consultation meetings. The focus will be on ensuring that all activities align with the project's objectives, particularly in the areas of technology and entrepreneurship. The role requires a proactive approach to project management, with an emphasis on effective communication and collaboration with various stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Coordinator will work under the supervision of the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Executive Director of the ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC). Key responsibilities include:
Ensuring effective communication and engagement with beneficiary SMEs/startups by scheduling meetings, tracking progress, and conducting follow-ups to support their participation and development within ETC projects.
Coordinating the involvement of key stakeholders such as experts, trainers, mentors, and investors in project activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
Managing B2B matchmaking and coaching activities before, during, and after the Arab SMEs Summit 2025, tracking deal-making progress and facilitating follow-ups to maximize impact for participating SMEs/startups.
Attending meetings and monitoring discussions related to project objectives, incorporating insights into proposals and required materials.
Generating statistical tables and graphs, and contributing to the preparation of presentations and substantive content for ETC project deliverables.
Assisting in the creation of agendas, informational materials, and presentations for ETC meetings.
Drafting routine communications (emails, letters, memos) to engage with stakeholders.
Managing and responding to various correspondence and meeting-related communications in English and Arabic.
Undertaking additional tasks and assignments as delegated to contribute to the successful implementation of project plans and proposal development. 1
Providing administrative support for consultation meetings to ensure alignment with project objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Business Management, Project Management, Marketing, Communication Studies, Engineering, Information Technology, Event Management, Public Administration, Environmental Science, Architecture, or Health Sciences. All candidates are required to submit a copy of their educational degree, as incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Additionally, a minimum of 3 years of professional work experience in project coordination, program administration, or program management assistance is required. Candidates should have knowledge of SME and startup challenges, as well as an understanding of trends in key sectors like digital transformation, e-commerce, and fintech. The ability to manage tasks, time, and resources efficiently is also essential, along with a meticulous approach to reviewing work for errors or inconsistencies.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is required for this position. The degree should be in areas such as Business Management, Project Management, Marketing, Communication Studies, Engineering, Information Technology, Event Management, Public Administration, Environmental Science, Architecture, or Health Sciences. Candidates must provide proof of their educational qualifications as part of the application process.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of professional work experience that includes project coordination, program administration, and program management assistance. Experience in roles closely associated with the responsibilities of this position is essential, particularly in the context of supporting SMEs and startups in the Arab region. Familiarity with the challenges faced by these entities, as well as knowledge of the financing and investment landscape, is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is required, along with knowledge of Arabic. The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French, while Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, candidates must demonstrate fluency in English across all four areas: speaking, reading, writing, and understanding. Knowledge of Arabic should be at a confident level in at least two of the four areas.
Additional Notes: This position is recruited on a local basis, meaning that the incumbent must have the legal right to live and work in Lebanon.
