Job Posting Organization: Populations Services International (PSI) is a global network of local organizations that strive to provide consumer-centered healthcare that is quality and affordable. Established over 30 years ago in Cameroon, PSI has focused on various health issues including malaria, reproductive health, child survival, and HIV prevention. The organization emphasizes collaboration, trust, pragmatism, honesty, measurement, and commitment in its operations, aiming to empower communities and ensure that healthcare is accessible when needed.
Job Overview: The Internal Auditor will play a crucial role in ensuring good governance, risk management, and process improvement within PSI Cameroon. This position requires in-depth knowledge of internal audit procedures, accounting, finance, and administration. The auditor will be responsible for evaluating compliance with accounting policies, administrative and financial regulations, and donor requirements. The role also involves assessing existing procedures and policies, making relevant recommendations for improvement, and assisting in the operational implementation of the audit plan. The Internal Auditor will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of activities and systematic risk monitoring.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Internal Auditor's main responsibilities include establishing an internal audit charter for PSI Cameroon, developing an annual audit plan, implementing work programs, conducting audits or investigations, meticulously documenting all work, confirming findings with auditees, drafting summaries of work, and preparing audit and investigation reports. The auditor will also promote ethical policies and integrity in accordance with PSI's code of conduct, support the development and capacity building of colleagues, and execute any other tasks assigned by supervisors.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong understanding of Cameroonian legal and fiscal regulations, proven proficiency in Microsoft Office, and basic data analysis skills. Excellent writing skills and the ability to meet audit deadlines are essential. Candidates should also be able to work under pressure and be willing to travel as required. Fluency in French or English is mandatory, with proficiency in the other language highly recommended.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Bac+4 degree in Accounting, Management Control, Audit, or Finance is essential. A Bac+5 degree in the same fields is desirable.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in a recognized audit firm or in the audit department of an international NGO or a structured company in Cameroon.
Languages: Fluency in French or English is mandatory, with proficiency in the other language strongly recommended.
Additional Notes: This is a local position based in Yaoundé, with a contract type of CDI (permanent contract). The position is classified at an intermediate level (P1) and requires 10-30% travel. The salary will be aligned with PSI Cameroon’s salary scale, and the successful candidate will have access to capacity-building training as available. Remote work is permitted.
