Job Overview:
The position of Consultant for Digital Journalism and Media Literacy involves working with the OSCE Mission to Serbia's Media Department to enhance the digital competencies of journalists, educators, and citizens. The consultant will be responsible for conducting research, delivering workshops, seminars, and lectures aimed at improving media literacy and digital skills. This role is crucial in addressing the challenges posed by misinformation and the rapid evolution of digital technologies. The consultant will engage with various stakeholders, including journalists and media workers, to empower them with the necessary skills to navigate the digital landscape effectively. The OSCE Mission's focus on digital empowerment and media literacy is essential for fostering informed citizenship and promoting ethical journalism in an increasingly complex media environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including: conducting research on media literacy and digital skills; delivering expert lectures and workshops on topics such as combating misinformation, ethical journalism, and the use of AI in newsrooms; providing counseling on the use of digital media; and addressing emerging cyber threats. The consultant will also be expected to tailor their presentations and materials to suit different audiences, including journalists, educators, and children. Additionally, the consultant will work under the supervision of the National Media Development Officer and National Legal Officers, ensuring that all activities align with the OSCE's mission and objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess citizenship or permanent residence in the Republic of Serbia, along with a university degree in communication, journalism, electronic communications, psychology, media studies, social sciences, or a related field. A minimum of five years of specific experience in journalism, media literacy, or platform-based technology is required. Knowledge of emerging technologies and full computer literacy are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate professional fluency in both English and Serbian, possess the ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds, and show gender awareness and sensitivity in their work.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in fields related to communication, journalism, media studies, or social sciences. This foundational education is critical for understanding the complexities of media and digital literacy in today's society.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in journalism, media literacy, or technology-related fields. Experience in social research is considered an asset, as it will enhance the consultant's ability to conduct effective research and analysis in the context of media and digital literacy.

Languages:
Professional fluency in both English and Serbian is mandatory for this position. This includes both oral and written communication skills, as the consultant will be required to deliver lectures and workshops in both languages. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not explicitly required.

Additional Notes:
The selected consultants will be placed on the OSCE Mission's consultancy roster and may be engaged under a Special Service Agreement (SSA). The remuneration will be based on the Mission's policy at the time of engagement and will reflect the individual's qualifications and experience. Payment will be made upon successful completion of all assigned tasks.
