Job Overview: The Regional Advisor plays a crucial role in supporting the GPO Director by aligning organizational objectives with operational excellence and communication strategies. This position is essential for driving collaboration across functions, improving internal processes, and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders. The advisor will oversee daily operations and act as the primary Public Relations Officer for GPO, managing strategic initiatives and communication strategies. Key responsibilities include advising on strategic initiatives, developing internal communication strategies, executing external communications, crafting messaging, and analyzing data to measure the impact of visibility campaigns and employee engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Leadership Support: Advise the GPO Director on strategic initiatives and organizational priorities, collaborate with leadership to define long-term goals, facilitate decision-making through information synthesis, and lead cross-departmental projects.
Stakeholder Coordination and Communication: Develop internal communication strategies to enhance employee engagement and foster collaboration across departments.
External Communications, Events & Media Relations: Create and execute communication strategies to enhance GPO's visibility, ensure participation in key events, and manage brand reputation.
Messaging & Content Creation: Craft consistent messaging for various audiences and oversee the creation of communication materials.
Data Analysis & Reporting: Measure the impact of campaigns and provide updates to leadership, adjusting strategies based on insights.
Communication & Public Relations: Manage external communications, brand management, and stakeholder engagement.
Support to the Director: Provide high-level operational support, manage special projects, organize leadership meetings, and oversee resource management.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced University Degree (Master's Degree or equivalent) in Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field with seven years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent) with nine years of relevant experience is acceptable. Relevant experience includes communications, marketing, brand management, and strategic operations. A proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and managing people is highly desired, along with prior experience in international organizations, particularly within the UN system.
Educational Background: An advanced University Degree (Master's Degree or equivalent) in Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent) is desirable, especially with additional years of relevant experience.
Experience: Candidates should have at least seven years of relevant experience for those with a Master's Degree or nine years for those with a Bachelor's Degree. Relevant experience includes communications, marketing, brand management, and strategic operations. Experience in leading teams and working in multicultural environments is advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking) is required. Knowledge of another UN language is considered an asset.
Additional Notes: The contract type is fixed-term at the P4 level, initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability.
