Job Overview: The Associate Programme Management Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of various programs and projects within UNODET. This position requires collaboration with key clients to ensure that assigned programs are effectively managed and evaluated. The officer will monitor and analyze specific aspects of program/project development, identify issues, and recommend corrective actions. The role also involves conducting basic research, providing substantive support for policy coordination, and assisting in the planning and facilitation of workshops and interactive sessions. The officer will contribute to the preparation of written outputs, provide administrative support for meetings and conferences, and engage in outreach activities, including the development of training workshops. The position demands a proactive approach to data collection and analysis, contributing to informed decision-making and strategic planning.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate Programme Management Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Facilitating the development, implementation, and evaluation of assigned programs/projects.
Monitoring and analyzing program/project development and implementation, identifying problems, and recommending corrective actions.
Conducting basic research and collecting, analyzing, and presenting statistical data.
Providing support for policy coordination and evaluation functions, including participation in evaluations and research activities.
Assisting in consulting assignments by planning and facilitating workshops and developing action plans.
Participating in survey initiatives and assisting with the design of data collection tools.
Contributing to the preparation of written outputs, including background papers and reports.
Providing administrative and substantive support to meetings and conferences.
Undertaking outreach activities and participating in the development of training workshops. 1
Coordinating activities related to budget funding and preparing related documents. 1
Analyzing data and identifying trends to provide insights for decision-making.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong understanding of theories, concepts, and approaches relevant to project/programme management. They should demonstrate the ability to identify and analyze issues, assist with data collection, and conduct independent research. The ideal candidate will show professionalism, accountability, and effective communication skills. They must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment, prioritize tasks, and manage conflicting priorities. A commitment to gender perspectives and equal participation in all areas of work is essential.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business or management, hospitality management, social sciences, economics, public administration, finance, accounting, law, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, administration, or a related area is required. Candidates should have at least one year of experience in data analytics using tools such as PowerBI, SAP Analytics Cloud, Qlik, Tableau, or SAP Business Objects. Experience in financial analysis and modeling, as well as developing strategic frameworks for multi-partner trust funds, is also required. Additionally, candidates should have at least one year of experience working on Digital Cooperation projects. Experience in extra-budgetary fundraising is desirable, but candidates who have passed the United Nations Young Professionals Programme Examination or similar examinations may not require prior experience.
Languages: English is the required working language for this position, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is also a working language of the United Nations Secretariat, and proficiency in French is considered an asset, although not mandatory for this position.

If the selected candidate is a current staff member of the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment. This temporary assignment does not guarantee future employment in the same position.
