Job Overview: The UN VolunteerMedical Doctor will work under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) or their designated representative. This role involves attending to clinical duties at the UN clinic in the respective Field Office on a full-time basis. The Medical Doctor will conduct day-to-day clinical consultations for UN personnel, stabilize and refer complicated medical cases, and provide on-call services for emergencies. The position also includes occupational health duties such as conducting medical examinations, providing immunizations, and maintaining health records. The Medical Doctor will be involved in training and capacity building, managing medical logistics, and reporting on activities to the CMO. This role is crucial for ensuring the health and safety of UN personnel in Afghanistan, requiring a proactive approach to medical care and emergency response.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Medical Doctor will be responsible for a variety of clinical and occupational health duties. Clinical responsibilities include attending the UN clinic full-time, conducting consultations, stabilizing and referring complicated cases, and providing emergency medical services 24/
The doctor will also liaise with local health facilities for mass casualty incidents and develop emergency capacity within the UN medical facilities. Occupational health duties involve conducting medical examinations, providing immunizations, maintaining health records, and addressing occupational health issues. The Medical Doctor will assist in training staff on first aid and emergency response, manage medical logistics including inventory and equipment, and prepare reports on medical activities. This comprehensive set of responsibilities ensures that the health needs of UN personnel are met effectively and efficiently.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a medical degree from a recognized institution and be licensed to practice medicine.
