Job Overview:
The Deputy coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Finance Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting the Finance Coordinator by processing accounting and financial transactions and assisting with various tasks as needed. This position involves implementing and monitoring financial procedures across different bases in close collaboration with the Finance Coordinator. The Deputy Finance Coordinator is responsible for managing the finance team at the Coordination level and supervising the administrative teams at the bases. Additionally, this role includes managing cash processes such as cash transfers and donor payments at the mission level, and stepping in for the Finance Coordinator during their absence. Given the ongoing conflict in Sudan, the Deputy Finance Coordinator will face significant challenges, including increased activities and funding, cash scarcity, and the need for an effective emergency response. The initial priorities for the first two to three months will include strengthening budget management tools, supporting proposal development, implementing financial tools, training teams on financial requirements, and leading cash transfer functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the Finance Coordinator in processing accounting and financial transactions.
  • Implement and monitor financial procedures across various bases.
  • Manage the finance team at the Coordination level.
  • Supervise administrative teams at the bases.
  • Oversee cash processes, including cash transfers and donor payments.
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Finance Coordinator in their absence.
  • Strengthen budget management tools for the mission.
  • Actively participate in proposal development alongside the Finance Coordinator.

Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a BAC +5 degree in administration or finance.
  • 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector.
  • 3-4 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Strong experience in budget management and familiarity with different donor guidelines.
  • Knowledge of SAGA and SI finance experience (BOUSSOL, AB, Proposal, etc.).
  • Proven experience in team management and capacity building of team members.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a BAC +5 degree in administration or finance, which indicates a high level of education and expertise in the relevant field necessary for managing financial operations effectively.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a similar duration of experience in a comparable role. This level of experience is essential to navigate the complexities of financial management in a challenging environment.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an advantage, while proficiency in French would be an additional asset that could enhance communication and collaboration within the team and with local stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is a salaried role with compensation starting from EUR 2,475 gross per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 2,250 and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, there is a monthly Per Diem of USD 75
  • SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment. The contract is for a short-term duration of 6 months, with a desired start date of May 1, 202
  • During the assignment, a system of alternating work and time off is implemented, allowing for 7 working days every three months, along with a USD 850 break allowance. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and repatriation costs. Living conditions in N'Djamena include access to hot water, air conditioning, and electricity, with internet availability at both the office and guest house. The city offers various leisure facilities and has a large expatriate community, although social life in the field may be limited to interactions with other NGO staff.
