Job Overview:
The internship program at the ILO provides an opportunity for candidates to gain a deeper understanding of international labor issues by directly participating in the work of the organization. Interns will engage in practical experiences related to their field of study, contributing to the implementation of ILO principles, programs, and strategies. The internship is designed to enhance the intern's knowledge of labor standards and development, particularly in the context of the Better Work program, which aims to improve working conditions and support inclusive economic growth, primarily in the garment sector. Interns will be involved in various tasks that support the mobilization of resources, donor engagement, and design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and monitoring, thereby gaining valuable insights into the workings of international organizations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for supporting the Better Work Global team in various capacities, including but not limited to: creating informative notes, writing, and communication materials that articulate Better Work's approaches and their application at the national level; conducting background research on foundations and other partners to support resource mobilization efforts; analyzing and reviewing policies and initiatives related to trade, development cooperation, corporate social responsibility, labor standards, working conditions, and social justice; developing and executing communication strategies and events aimed at enhancing collaboration and dialogue with government bodies, employer and worker organizations, and private sector partners. Interns are expected to dedicate 10% to 20% of their time to administrative tasks.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet several qualifications to be eligible for the internship. They should not have any close relatives working at the ILO, must not have previously interned at the ILO, and must be enrolled in a master's or doctoral program or have completed such a program within the past year. A practical knowledge of English, both oral and written, is mandatory. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills, a willingness to learn new knowledge and skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and adaptability to a multicultural and multilingual environment.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes a master's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Public Policy, International Development, Social Policy, or related fields in social sciences, with a focus on multilateralism and development. Candidates must be in their final year of postgraduate studies or have completed their program within the last year.

Experience:
While prior experience is not strictly required, candidates with experience in stakeholder engagement, donor relations, strategic partnership development, results-based management, or external relations will be valued. Such experience can enhance a candidate's application and provide them with a competitive edge in the selection process.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary working language of the ILO. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the ILO's work in various regions.

Additional Notes:
The internship contract duration is between 3 to 6 months, starting on either the 1st or 15th of the month. Interns will receive a monthly stipend of 2450 CHF, unless they receive funding from another institution, in which case the ILO will cover the difference to ensure the stipend remains at 2450 CHF. Additionally, interns will receive a monthly contribution of 45 CHF towards medical insurance expenses during the internship period. Candidates from underrepresented or unrepresented member states may be eligible for financial assistance for travel expenses to Geneva. It is important to note that the ILO does not cover any expenses incurred during the internship due to accidents or illness, and candidates are required to obtain personal health and accident insurance valid throughout their internship.
