Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be expected to assist in a variety of tasks within the HR department, including but not limited to: supporting the recruitment process by publishing job vacancies, screening applications, and coordinating interviews; participating in the development and administration of training programs; assisting in the evaluation of job classifications and employee performance; conducting research on HR policies and practices; helping to maintain employee records and databases; and contributing to the development of communication materials related to HR initiatives. Interns should be prepared to dedicate 10 to 20 percent of their time to administrative tasks, ensuring that they gain a well-rounded experience in the HR field.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following qualifications: be enrolled in or have recently completed a Master's or Doctoral program in a relevant field such as human resources management, law, business administration, psychology, or education; possess a practical knowledge of English, both oral and written, as this is mandatory; and have no close relatives working at the ILO. Previous internship experience at the ILO is not permitted, and applicants should not expect employment at the end of the internship.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes enrollment in a Master's or Doctoral program, or having completed such a program within the past year. Relevant fields of study include human resources management, law, business administration, psychology, education, or similar disciplines. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of human resources and labor relations.
Experience: While prior experience is not mandatory, any relevant professional experience in human resources or related fields will be considered an advantage. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is also beneficial. Knowledge of statistical dataanalysis and website design would further enhance a candidate's profile.
Languages: A practical knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is mandatory for this position. Additionally, proficiency in at least one of the ILO's official languages, which include French and Spanish, is considered an asset. This linguistic capability will facilitate effective communication within the multicultural environment of the ILO.
Additional Notes: The internship contract will last between 3 to 6 months, starting on either the 1st or the 15th of the month. Interns will receive a monthly stipend of 2450 CHF, unless they are receiving funding from another institution. If partial funding is received, the ILO will cover the difference to ensure the intern receives the full stipend. Additionally, interns will receive a monthly contribution of 45 CHF towards medical insurance costs during the internship period. Candidates from underrepresented or non-represented member states may be eligible for financial assistance for travel expenses to Geneva. It is important to note that the ILO does not cover any costs related to accidents or illnesses that may occur during the internship, and candidates are responsible for ensuring they have adequate health and accident insurance coverage.
