Job Overview:
The internship program at the ILO provides an invaluable opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain practical experience in an international organization. Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be expected to assist in a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: conducting research on social protection systems, analyzing data related to labor statistics, supporting the development of reports and presentations, and participating in meetings and discussions with ILO staff. Interns may also be involved in the collection and dissemination of information regarding social protection coverage and benefits, as well as assisting in the management of databases related to social security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security. Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to work on specific projects that may involve financial modeling, statistical analysis, and the application of actuarial principles to real-world scenarios. Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet several key qualifications to be considered for the internship. Firstly, applicants should not have any close relatives working for the ILO. They should also not have previously completed an internship at the ILO. Furthermore, candidates must be enrolled in or have recently completed a master's or doctoral program within the last year. A practical knowledge of English, both oral and written, is mandatory, while proficiency in one of the ILO's official languages (French or Spanish) is considered an advantage. Additionally, a good understanding of social protection concepts and policies, as well as proficiency in data analysis software such as Excel, PowerBI, STATA, Python, or VBA, will be beneficial.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes a higher university degree in economics, statistics, mathematics, actuarial studies, or related fields. Candidates must be currently enrolled in a master's program or have completed such a program within the past year. This educational foundation is essential for interns to effectively contribute to the ILO's work and to apply their academic knowledge in practical settings.

Experience:
While prior work experience is not a strict requirement for this internship, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position. Interns are expected to have a foundational understanding of the principles of social protection and the ability to engage with complex data sets. Experience in research, data analysis, or project management will be advantageous but is not mandatory.

Languages:
A practical knowledge of English is required for all candidates, as it is the primary working language of the ILO. Additionally, proficiency in at least one of the ILO's official languages, which include French and Spanish, is considered a valuable asset. This multilingual capability will enhance the intern's ability to communicate effectively within the diverse environment of the ILO.

Additional Notes:
The internship contract will last between 3 to 6 months, starting on either the 1st or 15th of the month. Interns will receive a monthly stipend of 2450 CHF, unless they are receiving funding from another institution, in which case the ILO will cover the difference to ensure the stipend remains at 2450 CHF. Interns will also receive an additional 45 CHF per month to contribute towards medical insurance costs during the internship period. Candidates from underrepresented countries may be eligible for financial assistance for travel expenses to Geneva. It is important to note that the ILO does not cover any personal expenses incurred during the internship, and candidates are responsible for obtaining their own health and accident insurance. The ILO emphasizes that it does not charge any fees during the application process and advises candidates to be cautious of fraudulent communications.
