Job Overview:
The internship program at the ILO provides a unique opportunity for individuals to gain practical experience in international labor issues while contributing to the organization's mission. Interns will engage directly in the work of the ILO, participating in the implementation of principles, programs, and strategies that align with the organization's goals. The internship is designed to enhance understanding of global labor issues and provide hands-on experience related to the intern's field of study. Interns will be involved in various aspects of policy development, research, and capacity-building activities, working closely with ILO specialists and contributing to projects that promote decent work and responsible business conduct.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will support the ILO's Multinational Enterprises and Responsible Business Conduct Unit (MULTI) within the Enterprises Department. Responsibilities include assisting in the implementation of the ILO's Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy, providing technical assistance for effective application of this instrument at global, regional, and national levels, and contributing to the development of tools and resources for stakeholders. Interns will also engage in research to inform policy advice, support the ILO Helpdesk for businesses, and participate in training and capacity-building activities. Administrative tasks will comprise 10-20% of the intern's time, ensuring a well-rounded experience.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have recently completed a master's or doctoral program in fields such as law, economics, business, or humanities. A practical knowledge of English, both oral and written, is mandatory. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate flexibility, multitasking abilities, and a commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Previous experience in public or private sectors related to labor issues will be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's profile for this internship.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should be pursuing or have completed a master's degree or higher in relevant fields such as law, economics, business administration, or social sciences. This educational background is essential to ensure that the intern can effectively engage with the complex issues addressed by the ILO and contribute meaningfully to the organization's objectives.

Experience:
While prior experience is not strictly required, any relevant work experience in public or private sectors, particularly in areas related to labor, business conduct, or international relations, will be viewed favorably. This experience can provide valuable insights and enhance the intern's ability to contribute to the ILO's mission during their internship.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of French is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication within the ILO and with various stakeholders. Candidates who possess additional language skills may have an advantage in this multicultural environment.

Additional Notes:
The internship contract will last between 3 to 6 months, starting on either the 1st or 15th of the month. Interns will receive a monthly stipend of 2450 CHF, with additional contributions for medical insurance expenses. Candidates from underrepresented countries may be eligible for travel expense coverage to Geneva. It is important to note that applicants must not have any close relatives working at the ILO, must not have previously interned at the organization, and must apply before the deadline.
