Job Overview: The Principal Investment Officer position is a senior role within the Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services (MAS) Africa Department at IFC. The individual will be responsible for sourcing, pre-structuring, and executing investment transactions specifically in the Manufacturing and Services sectors, with a focus on consumer services such as tourism, property, retail, health, and education. This role requires a strong origination track record and demonstrated skills in technical deal structuring and portfolio management. The Principal Investment Officer will work closely with colleagues in both Washington DC and country offices, emphasizing business development, transaction execution, and client relationship management. Duties and Responsibilities: The Principal Investment Officer will lead business development efforts, focusing on the origination and execution of strategic and complex transactions. Responsibilities include assessing investment opportunities with a strong emphasis on credit quality and development impact, making recommendations to IFC management, and developing a robust business pipeline in collaboration with sector leads and investment officers. The officer will proactively identify potential investment partners, execute various financing structures including loans, equity, and mezzanine financings, and manage environmental, social, and governance risks associated with projects. Additionally, the role involves monitoring client compliance with investment agreements, preparing supervision reports, and providing high-quality client service throughout the project cycle. Familiarity with the tourism, retail, property, health, and education sectors is advantageous, as is knowledge of emerging markets and multi-country investment experience.
