Job Overview:

Interns will gain hands-on experience in the field of employment and skills development, contributing to the ILO's mission of promoting full and productive employment. Interns will be involved in various tasks that support the design and implementation of policy guidance documents, comparative analysis of national policies, and research related to skills development and youth employability. This role is particularly focused on the Skills and Employability Branch, which assists governments in reforming vocational education and training systems to adapt to the changing labor market. Interns will have the opportunity to engage in high-level discussions and contribute to the development of strategies that promote inclusive economic growth and social justice.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be expected to support the design and implementation of policy guidance documents, assist in comparative analysis of national skills policies, and contribute to high-quality research products. They will also help in developing strategies for financing skills development, support the inclusion of persons with disabilities in education and employment, and assist in documenting best practices. Additionally, interns will participate in workshops and seminars, prepare reports and presentations, and devote a portion of their time to administrative tasks. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in a Master's or Doctorate program or have completed such a program within the past year. A working knowledge of English is mandatory, and proficiency in one of the ILO's other official languages (French or Spanish) is advantageous. Candidates should possess good analytical and drafting skills, the ability to produce high-quality written materials, and strong communication skills. A collaborative spirit and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment are essential, along with strong time management skills and self-motivation.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes a first-level degree in Economic or Social Sciences, Human Resource Development, Development Studies, International Relations, or a related field. Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Master's degree program or have completed such a program no longer than one year ago, ensuring they have the necessary theoretical knowledge to contribute effectively to the ILO's work.

Experience:
Relevant professional experience in skills and lifelong learning, communication, and familiarity with social media and communication applications is preferred. Candidates should have a good understanding of tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, which will aid in their ability to produce reports and presentations during the internship.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this internship position. Additionally, candidates who have proficiency in at least one of the other official languages of the ILO, such as French or Spanish, will have an advantage in the selection process, as this will enhance their ability to communicate effectively within the organization and with its stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This internship is limited to candidates with disabilities, and applicants must not have any close relatives serving in the ILO or have previously undertaken an internship at the organization. The internship duration is six months, starting on either the 1st or the 15th of a given month. Interns will receive a stipend of 2450 CHF per month, with additional contributions towards medical insurance. Candidates from non- or under-represented countries may be eligible for financial assistance for travel costs. The ILO does not charge any fees during the recruitment process and does not take responsibility for any costs arising from accidents or illness during the internship.
