Job Overview:
The (Senior) Syndications Officer will be a key member of the Credit Insurance Program team within the Syndicated Loans and Mobilization Department (CSL) at IFC. This position is pivotal in product development, transaction execution, and stakeholder management specifically for IFC’s Credit Insurance Program. The officer will be responsible for expanding and managing relationships with global insurers, developing innovative products and programs, and addressing challenges in credit insurance procurement. The role also involves working on policy and framework updates, supporting unfunded Managed Co-Lending Portfolio Program (MCPP) structuring, and collaborating with internal teams to enhance operational efficiency and risk mitigation strategies. The officer will report directly to the Head of the Credit Insurance Program, ensuring alignment with IFC’s broader financial objectives and strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the (Senior) Syndications Officer include:
  • Product & Program Development: - Develop new products and programs to enhance IFC’s ability to procure credit insurance, addressing constraints in both individual and programmatic areas. - Act as a product specialist, advising transaction teams on structuring deals to incorporate credit insurance efficiently. - Explore opportunities to expand credit insurance use in strategically significant areas, such as local currency transactions and deals involving other IFC financial instruments. - Lead and conduct training sessions related to credit insurance for internal audiences, both at the launch of new initiatives and as annual refreshers.
  • Stakeholder & Relationship Management: - Strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including IFC investment teams, syndications officers, and credit insurance teams at leading global insurers. - Engage with internal and external partners to streamline processes, resolve challenges, and expand the availability of credit insurance structures for IFC’s transactions. - Serve as a primary liaison for credit insurance-related matters, ensuring alignment across various teams and industry players for transactions across sectors and regions.
  • Operational Coordination & Efficiency: - Collaborate with operational departments to develop and implement new MCPP unfunded programs. - Work with the Legal department to amend or create documentation ensuring smooth credit insurance procurement. - Enhance the efficiency of credit insurance procurement through policy improvements, operational streamlining, and strategic partnerships.
  • Strategic Leadership & Policy Development: - Support the credit insurance lead on strategic discussions to establish, update, and refine procedures, frameworks, and policies related to credit insurance. - Provide expert guidance on structuring new credit insurance solutions and ensuring their seamless integration into IFC’s broader financial products.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the (Senior) Syndications Officer position include: - An M.B.A. or Master’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field. - A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the financial sector, with a solid operational understanding of international credit structures and products, capital markets, structured debt fund management, fundraising, loan documentation, and financial markets. - A strong understanding of the credit insurance market and products is highly desirable. - Sound knowledge of portfolio management, including loan management and booking processes, accounting, and IT systems. - Experience in creating new products, functions, or processes is desirable, with the ability to think critically about how negotiated points can affect loan operations, accounting, systems, and legal documentation with Borrowers/Investors, presenting creative and practical solutions. - A proactive, resourceful, and self-motivated approach with the ability to manage projects across broad teams, prioritize effectively, and adhere to deadlines. - Strong knowledge of investment processes and transaction structuring. - A proven commitment to teamwork, including brainstorming and designing products, mentoring and coaching staff, disseminating information, and sharing knowledge. - Ability to work successfully in multicultural teams and across boundaries. - Excellent oral and written presentation skills in English. - A commitment to the World Bank Group and to IFC’s mission, strategy, and values. - Adherence to the highest ethical standards and a willingness to travel as necessary.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an M.B.A. or a Master’s degree in finance, economics, or a related area. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and analytical skills required for the complexities of the financial sector, particularly in relation to credit insurance and syndications.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the financial sector. This experience should include a solid operational understanding of international credit structures and products, capital markets, structured debt fund management, fundraising, loan documentation, and financial markets. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in environments that require a deep understanding of credit insurance and its application in various financial transactions.

Languages:
