Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is situated within the Research Department of the ILO, specifically focusing on the Digital Transformation of Work Team. This team conducts research on the implications of digital technologies on labor markets, workers, and businesses. Interns will gain hands-on experience by contributing to ongoing research projects, which include analyzing the effects of digital labor platforms and algorithmic management on working conditions, particularly in developing countries. Interns will also engage with various stakeholders, including legal experts and economists, to enhance their understanding of the ILO's role in promoting decent work amidst technological advancements. The internship provides an opportunity to develop research and writing skills while contributing to publications and reports that inform policy discussions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for providing factual summaries of case law from Spain and France, including the legal context and factual situations that led to legal proceedings. They will also collect judicial decision developments from Latin America, enhancing their knowledge of the ILO's mandate in the platform economy. Interns will work closely with legal experts and economists, contributing to the preparation of working papers, reports, and briefs. Additionally, they will support the organization of ILO meetings, workshops, and conferences, while dedicating 10% to 20% of their time to administrative tasks.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in a Master's or Doctorate program or have completed such a program within the past year. A strong command of English is mandatory, and proficiency in Spanish is required. Knowledge of another ILO official language (French or English) is advantageous. Candidates should possess strong IT skills, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software, as well as familiarity with statistical software for data analysis.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have a background in Economics, Development Studies, Law, Statistics, or related fields. Enrollment in a Master's degree program or completion of such a program within the last year is essential for eligibility.

Experience:
Relevant work experience related to the digital economy, platform work, or algorithmic management with a focus on labor issues is preferred. This experience will enhance the candidate's ability to contribute effectively to the research team's objectives.

Languages:
Excellent command of Spanish is required, along with working knowledge of another ILO official language (French or English) being advantageous. Strong communication skills in both oral and written forms are essential for this position.

Additional Notes:
The internship duration is between 3 to 6 months, starting on the 1st or 15th of a given month. Interns will receive a stipend of 2450 CHF per month, with additional contributions towards medical insurance. Candidates from non- or under-represented countries may be eligible for financial assistance for travel costs to Geneva. The ILO does not charge any fees during the recruitment process, and candidates are responsible for their own insurance coverage during the internship.
