Job Overview:
The ET Consultant position is integral to the Africa Fragility Initiative (AFI), which is part of IFC’s FCS Africa team. This role is designed to enhance IFC's engagement with the domestic private sector in fragile countries, particularly in Liberia. The consultant will oversee the development of a pipeline of local sponsors for the Local Champions project, which aims to build sustainable investment opportunities in the market. The consultant will also lead broader business development efforts aligned with regional and industry priorities, ensuring that fragility considerations are integrated into both investment and advisory projects. The position requires a proactive approach to engage with clients, optimize the risk-return profile of investments, and contribute to the overall development impact of IFC's initiatives in Liberia.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The ET Consultant will be responsible for a variety of duties including: building and maintaining strong relationships with private sector and government stakeholders; advising on the development of investment and advisory projects while incorporating a fragility lens; supporting the Resident Representative in preparing business plan updates; developing a robust pipeline of investment and advisory opportunities; engaging with clients to demonstrate IFC's value; providing business intelligence to investment teams; collaborating with IBRD colleagues and other IFIs; identifying strategic investment opportunities; supporting client-facing teams in business development activities; leading the design and implementation of the Local Champions Initiative in Liberia; liaising with industry and country office colleagues; working closely with the World Bank to identify synergies; leading fragility analysis for WBG analytics; contributing to project supervision reports and donor reporting; and developing knowledge management products such as case studies and lessons learned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a relevant field such as business, finance, or economics, along with at least 8 years of relevant experience. This experience should include a proven track record in business consulting or investment banking, or operational experience in a relevant sector. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to advise on major projects from design to implementation, experience with development budgets and staffing, and the ability to coordinate contributions from specialists in various disciplines. Extensive knowledge of FCS tools and approaches is essential, as well as proven experience working with clients on sensitive issues and a strong network within the private sector in Liberia.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in a related field is required. Relevant fields include business, finance, economics, or specific areas of expertise related to the sector or industry. Candidates should have a strong academic background that supports their ability to perform in the role effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. This experience should encompass a mix of business consulting, investment banking, or operational roles within the sector. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and a solid understanding of the investment process, particularly within the context of IFC.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required for this position.

Additional Notes:
The position is a one-year appointment, renewable at the discretion of the World Bank Group, with a lifetime maximum ET appointment of three years.
